Why is it in Vitiligo Store?
Unlike mainstream, chemical-based sun care products, mineral protection does not cause free radicals, which are known to make vitiligo worse. This is a crucial fact to be aware of if you have vitiligo and intend to use a sunscreen. Mineral sunblock is also more stable than the chemical varieties and far less likely to cause irritation to sensitive skin. In addition, mineral protection starts as soon as it is applied, whereas chemical-based products need to be applied 20 minutes before sun exposure.

Tips from The Vit Pro
- Do not be fooled by the fact that chemical sunscreens are sometimes referred to as "organic". In this context the word refers to the carbon-based compounds present in chemical sunscreens. Natural mineral sunblocks, on the other hand, are often referred to as "inorganic". Jason comes into the so-called "inorganic" category, even though it contains a number of organically grown botanical ingredients (listed above). Confusing, eh?!
- Personally, I only use sun block when I absolutely have to. This is because my own repigmentation was achieved without the aid of topical sun protection. However, I do live in a part of the world (the UK) that is definitely not known for its warm climate and, of course, other factors like individual skin type also have to be taken into consideration when deciding if sunscreen is going to be necessary. My approach is to get moderate exposure little and often, preferably without the aid of sunblock (simply because UV can help with repigmentation so I don't like to block it out completely). But, that said, it is very important not to get burnt, so whenever there is a risk of this happening Jason mineral is my product of choice.
